GROUNDWORK MUSIC ORCHESTRA TO HOST HAPPY HOUR CONCERT WITH DRINK SPECIALS AND SILENT AUCTION

Groundwork Music Project hosts the first ever Musical Happy Hour at the brand new Trackside Bar with drink specials, a limited bar menu, and a silent auction. The doors open at 5pm and musical performances begin at 5:45 with Curtis McMurtry, Jackie Venson, and Tameca Jones performing a song with Groundwork student band, Five Blue Stars. Tickets are $10 at the door or on-line at http://bit.ly/amusicalhappyhour.

“This is a new event for us. Our previous fall fundraising events have been more child-focused, but we’re excited to try something different,” says Development Director, Amy Johnson, “but we absolutely still welcome children.”

All proceeds benefit Groundwork Music Project educational music programs and instruments. Groundwork Music Project enhances the lives of children by providing free and low cost music classes to schools with limited means. These programs provide the musical activities that are essential to healthy development across a broad spectrum: emotional, cognitive, social and more. The mission of the Groundwork Music Project is simple: to provide high quality music education programs to young children who could not otherwise afford it.

LedbetterWE WANT TO EXTEND A BIG THANK YOU TO THE DAUGHTERS OF ROBERT AND DOROTHY LEDBETTER

Dinah Boultinghouse, Kathy Helfert, and Dottie Hall have established a scholarship fund for Groundwork Students. Thanks, largely, to their generous donation, we were able to provide Ukulele Summer Camp opportunities to about a dozen young musicians. The scholarship fund is offered to honor the loving Ledbetter parents. Dorothy Ledbetter was a dedicated piano player and music lover who played into her 98th year of life.

Students participated in a five day teaching program, which culminated with a public event, at which students participated alongside professional musicians from The Groundwork Music Orchestra.

Our organization and our students are very grateful for such a generous gesture. We look forward to continuing our summer camp program next year. Those interested in giving can donate any time.

Many of our students rely upon the donations of people like you to help offset the cost of instruments and lessons. Grants, scholarships and donations can be the only things making it possible to give these kids the gift of music.

Please consider the one time gift of a partial or full scholarship for one week of intensive music instruction, ending in a recital at Cherrywood Coffeehouse.

Let us know if you’d like recognition and we will save a special seat for you at the recital!
