Groundwork Music is so excited to be offering ukulele lessons this year at Mills Elementary! We have been providing ukulele lessons in Austin schools for a decade, and we look forward to offering our services at Mills this year!
Lessons include ukulele play, singing, note reading, ear training, and lots of fun songs that kids love to play. Students get to play traditional songs, as well as ones that kids all over Austin have come to love, by way of public performances from the Groundwork Music Orchestra. All students will have opportunities to play with the band throughout the year, with a big spring concert in late April. Mr. Evan also hosts monthly at the Hive on Manchaca (fourth Saturday of each month).
Our JHUI-certified teachers (James Hill Ukulele Initiative) have a depth of teaching knowledge and musical knowledge that helps children to develop both skill and a love of musical activity.

Our mission is to provide free and low cost music lessons to young children regardless of means. Through our programs, children learn to sing, dance, keep a beat, carry a tune, play an instrument, create arrangements, perform for an audience, and collaborate on a creative endeavor.
